Re: “Linden Grove

The Linden Grove is a great nightclub!! There is always great music for dancing. On Thursday nights, it is oldies night with DJ Bugger which is great for the older folks to come out and dance. Friday nights they always have really great live bands. The bands are lots of fun and very entertaining, well worth the price of admission!! Saturday nights they have a great DJ who plays 80s, 90s and current day dance music. There's a great mix of people and it's a fun atmosphere. I love this place!!

Re: “Piper's Pub

This is my favorite spot to eat on the southside! They have such a
different menu. Their fish sandwich and the salmon club sandwich
are the best things on the menu! I highly recommend them both!
Also the beer selection is great and the service is good too. Get
There early though cuz the place gets packed quick!

Re: “ModernFormations Gallery

I have had a different experience it seems than many reviewers in that I have taken Zumba class at the gallery. Jennifer runs the Zumba classes and is really one of the nicest people I've met. She's supportive and kind, not rude or judgmental in any way. It's very hard for me to believe we are talking about the same person. Definitely worth forming your own opinions about Jen and about the space...if you're experiences are anything like mine, you will certainly not be disappointed.

Re: “Baja Bar and Grill

I just found Pittsburgh's best kept secret... the Baja Bar at the Fox Chapel Yacht Club. There is no other place in the city that you can eat, drink and dance under the stars to some of the best bands in the 'Burgh.

Re: “Steel City Improv Theater

Steel City Improv Theater is Pittsburgh's home for longform improvised comedy, musical improv and alternative comedy. The winners of a 2012 Best of the Burgh, they offer low and free longform improv comedy shows and improv jams several times a week. Totally Free Mondays are awesome, and showcase some amazing local talent. Check them out, you won't regret it!

Re: “Bricolage

Pittsburgh has a lot of creative theater for a city this size, but Bricolage stands out because of its willingness to try anything. We discovered them through their "Midnight Radio" series, which is brilliant, and we'll buy a ticket for any show, just to see what they do next.

Re: “Rex Theater

Previously I had written this music venue off. When I went to a show here about five years ago, the floors were dirty and sticky, the lobby smelled like stale beer, and the restrooms were disgusting. But in the past few years, this old vaudeville theater has undergone some major changes. The venue has new management, new staff, a great new sound system, new lights, new bars, and a huge selection of microbrews and high end liquors. As of recent, they have been host to many New Orleans jazz and funk bands, burlesque shows, bluegrass bands, WYEP shows, WDVE shows, rock bands, folk bands, indie rock bands, comedy shows, and they do tons of local band showcases. The "New" Rex Theater is a much better venue than it once was and is my new favorite home for live music in the city.

Re: “Thunderbird Cafe

Great venue to see up and coming bands. They have a dance floor and club seating, so whether you are going to get down or for dinner and a show, this is the place to go. They have friendly staff and an amazing microbrew selection. Check out Thunderbird Cafe next time you are in Lawrenceville.

Re: “ModernFormations Gallery

I have used Modernformations twice for events in the city of Pittsburgh. I LOVED it. The space is clean, quaint but roomy, 2 bathrooms, sound system, tables and chairs all provided and set out for easy access. The difficulty in my situation is I live in Maryland. Jenn the gallery owner corresponded by email and was quick with her responses. She even emailed the contract. During my most recent event I had no assistant, Jenn stayed to help me with EVERYTHING she even allowed me to arrive 2 hours early AND she helped me set up. The event ran over and the additional charge was more than fair AND Jenn helped me clean up. You don't find reasonably priced venues with kind, people friendly management these days! Jenn allowed us to have full access to the venue and the only rules she had in the contract were set to maintain the safety of the art in the gallery, which is understandable. The artists are trusting her with their work just like I trust her with my events! I totally recommend monderformations! Check them out!

Re: “Cenci's Italian Restaurant & Bar

Ive always had great food here. Their specials run all day and night, not just 2 hours like most bars. Great place to meet friends!
