Pittsburgh City Paper was on-site Sunday June 2 for Mutt Strut, Animal Friends’ dog walk and 5K! Mutt Strut included a pledge walk, vendor fair and had plenty of pet-friendly activities! And best of all, it supports Pittsburgh’s premier companion animal resource center!
Pittsburgh City Paper was on-site Saturday May 25 in Wampum for the Pittsburgh MuckFest™ ! MuckFest™ MS is the nation’s best mud and obstacle fun-run. Made with mud, sweat and cheers, the five-mile course featured a gauntlet of muck-filled mazes, pits and craters with over twenty gigantic steel obstacles. The fun didn't stop when you slide over the finish line, there was beer, great food and music.
Pittsburgh City Paper was on-site Saturday May 25 at Hartwood Acres for PyroFest! PyroFest is an affordable community event to promote & celebrate the international art of Pyrotechnics through innovative & unique presentations. PyroFest was sure to amaze everyone with thrilling new displays, including a display by the world-renowned, award winning Ricardo Caballer Ricasa, who brought their amazing display direct from Spain - a premier fireworks show that has never been performed in the United States. "Rock Loves II" presented an innovative, power-packed "sequel" display to top the award winning "Rock Loves." Techniques and products from around the globe came together effortlessly in an array of pyrotechnic displays to include both daytime and nighttime fireworks that dazzled everyone with a thrilling sensory and visual experience they will never forget.
Pittsburgh’s first & only Real Ale festival! Featured 32 + beers hand poured from traditional firkins from an array of local, regional & national brewers. Ticket price included samples of these unique beers, including some of the PCBW Collaboration Brews, a menu paired to the beer selection and featuring some of our favorite restaurant sponsors, commemorative logo taster glass, live music and a tremendous view of The Point from brand new Highmark Stadium Club Level Mezzanine & Deck in Station Square!
2013 Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week
The city's dramatic skyline is the backdrop for an evening of holiday activities, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. Near 80,000 people were in the Golden Triangle for the 52nd annual Pittsburgh Light Up Night celebration, the official kickoff for the Pittsburgh holiday season. Pittsburgh City Paper was in attendance giving away prizes & having a great time!

The PittsBurgher is a burger competition and benefit music festival that featured performances by local entertainment including; live music with DJ’s, bands. The event took place from 1p-7p at the Rivers Casino Amphitheatre in Pittsburgh’s North Shore with over a dozen local restaurants sampling their best burger for the chance to be named “Best burger in the Burgh”.
The event is designed to support ALF’s mission to facilitate, advocate and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.

Shadyside Arts Festival
Pittsburgh City Paper was at the Shadyside Arts Festival from 10-4 Saturday afternoon giving away prizes & interacting with local artists!
Home to many upscale stores, boutiques, and restaurants, Shadyside, a traditional Pittsburgh neighborhood, is segmented into three corridors. Given the compact nature of this historic residential neighborhood, the three business corridors are all within walking distance of one another, and provide visitors the ability to enjoy a variety of concerts, festivals and other community events.
Walnut Street in Shadyside, transforms into an open-air art gallery with more than 150 artists from around the nation for the annual Shadyside ...The Art Festival on Walnut Street. Meander down Walnut Street and find fine works of art including: photography, functional pottery, paintings, jewelry, sculptures, and much more! There is always something for everyone at the Shadyside art festival.
Pittsburgh City Paper was at the Gallery Crawl friday night from 5-8 giving away prizes and having a great time! The Gallery Crawl is a free quarterly showcase of art and entertainment in the heart of the Cultural District. All events take place at a variety of galleries and spaces and are FREE and open to the public. The event is ongoing between 5:30 and 9:00 pm, and patrons may start at any location.Upcoming Gallery Crawl dates: September 28

Pittsburgh City Paper's Sounding Board [Local Music Series]
In March, City Paper kicked off our new quarterly live-concert series, Sounding Board, with a fun show at Peter's Pub in Oakland. This time the event moved to the South Side, where our host was the Smiling Moose. The three featured artists have been covered in one way or another by CP in the first half of 2012. Attendees paid a $6 cover and the beer special was $1 Iron City's.THE BANDS
Bluebird Midwest is the solo project of Roger Harvey, who you might know from his band White Wives. White Wives released its debut a little under a year ago on Adeline, the label run by Billie Joe and Adrienne Armstrong. Bluebird Midwest released its first video through CP's music blog, FFW>>, in February.
Triggers were featured in the music section in April, when the band's second record, Forcing a Smile, was officially released.And rounding out the lineup: Our Music Guide's cover models Tracksploitation, the DJ duo from the future that often dresses in costume. The pair, JCT 45 and Professor ASAP, closed out the night by giving us plenty of reasons to dance.
Three Rivers Arts Festival is a 10-day celebration of the arts held annually in Downtown Pittsburgh. The Three Rivers Arts Festival quickly grew from the “little outdoor art show” to what is today the region’s largest multidisciplinary showcase of visual art and performing arts. Despite a rapid growth, the Festival’s mission to connect the community to arts and culture has remained consistent throughout the event’s 50-year history.
