Self-proclaimed "honky tonk surf rock" two piece Boom Chick will be strolling through Pittsburgh on its current tour, stopping at Thunderbird Cafe this Saturday, August 4th. The two-piece Brooklyn-based band, formed in 2009, consists of vocalist/guitarist Frank Hoier and drummer Moselle Spiller. Blending different influences into what sounds like a hyped-out White Stripes, Boom Chick keeps the surf and Americana levels in its songs even. The band's debut EP, Show Pony, garnered critical acclaim upon release, finding songs from the album featured in skateboarding videos and on ESPN. The follow-up 7" single "Shake Can Well," released this past March, has received the same attention.
The show at Thunderbird Cafe this Saturday will also feature White Like Fire, Polar Scout and Dewey Marquee. Admission is $7 and starts at 9 p.m.
I was not aware of the back issues. Good job on your research. This is…
Great article! The language paints a vivid picture of what sounds like a great show!
