MP3 Monday: Amuck

Posted By on Mon, Nov 1, 2010 at 5:24 PM

Hello hello! Long time no MP3. My fault on that one. We're back this week, so quit complaining.

This week's track comes courtesy of Amuck, a local MC whose LP, Probabilities, is available free at his Myspace page. It's an eclectic full-length with appearances from some local hip-hop fixtures like Basick Sickness and Sikes; Amuck doesn't hold back when he approaches topics like fundamentalism and anti-abortion propaganda, but he also knows when to let the anger rest and have some fun. The track we picked for today's MP3 Monday is "Minus Two Chromosomes," a song that strikes a balance between rapping and singing, and almost resembles a sinister Devo, if you follow. Download it and listen for yourself.

Amuck performs this Friday night, November 5, at the Smiling Moose on the South Side with a lineup that includes the aforementioned Basick Sickness and Sikes, plus Maesion and Dinotrax. It starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are $6 in advance, $8 at the door.
