Saturday night: Pete Seeger tribute

Posted By on Thu, May 7, 2009 at 1:32 PM

This past Sunday marked the 90th birthday of the remarkable Pete Seeger, possibly the 20th century's most famous folk singer. There was a huge celebration in New York City, but for those who couldn't make that, local promoter-about-town Maree Gallagher has put together a bill of some popular local folk/folk-rock types to celebrate Seeger's life and raise money for a good cause.

The show is Saturday night at Your Inner Vagabond (4130 Butler St. in Lawrenceville), and features Bill Toms, Rick Malis, Mark Dignam, Tom Breiding, Jason Kendall, Mike Strasser, Mike Gallagher, and Bob Banerjee. It benefits Focus On Renewal, a non-profit that's responsible for myriad projects that help those who need assistance in the McKees Rocks area.

It starts at 7, and $7 for FOR gets you in. No better way to celebrate the life of an activist musician than a concert that benefits advocates for those less fortunate!
