The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust seeks local artists to design and develop functional bicycle racks to be placed in the Cultural District.
Five artists will be selected to design racks in the project’s first phase; more phases might follow.
Selected artists will receive a fee of $3,000 to create a unique rack. The fee will cover the cost of design, fabrication, finishing and transportation of the completed rack to the installation site.
There’s a whole list of specs, available here.
Right now the contest is in the request-for-qualifications phase. The Trust is asking for a resume, images of five completed works, a short artist statement and references by Dec. 31. Selected artists will be notified by Jan. 31, and proposals due March 31.
