Republican AG Candidate gets NRA Nod

Posted By on Tue, Oct 9, 2012 at 11:08 AM

The campaign for David Freed for Attorney General announced today the Republican received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association.

In a press release, NRA Political Victory Fund Chair Chris Cox said that Freed is "committed to protecting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms guaranteed to all Americans." Cox noted that Freed received an "AQ" rating from the organization, which, according to its website, means "a pro-gun candidate whose rating is based solely on the candidate's responses to the NRA-PVF Candidate Questionnaire and who does not have a voting record on Second Amendment issues."

The press release goes on to say that Democratic AG candidate Kathleen Kane was given a "?" rating by the group "for refusing to return the NRA state candidate questionnaire. According to the organization, that refusal is viewed as a sign of indifference or outright hostility to the rights of gun owners and sportsmen."
